Songs of Travel going live July 1

John Schaefer and I performed Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel in 2014, and I recorded the dress rehearsal. It sat on my hard drive for six years. Thanks to the lockdown, there was time to clean it up and load it onto SoundCloud. On July 1st, you will be able to hear it there and on Spotify.

Launch Week: Thank you!

Thanks to the eight patrons who are sponsoring my work now, launch week was a success. And while, technically, I never received any unemployment benefits up to the current date, will also not be looking at them at all for the upcoming several weeks because of your support!

Instead, began collaborating with Ed Frazier Davis and Dr. Tony Maglione on a new project to be recorded this summer (later if absolutely necessary, in the event of a return to total shutdown). More next week, after we work out a few more details and get more musicians on board, but your support is already making a difference for very-recently unemployed musicians.

Please consider scrolling down to the bottom of the page and chipping in a few dollars to help, if you are not already doing so. Thank you!

Hello world!

Welcome to my website. In case you were wondering what I did with my federal stimulus check, you’re looking at it. COVID-19 has cut more than half of my income since March 12th. In-person concerts may still be a long ways off, given that singing is among the most powerful tools there is to spread the virus, should the singer be the one infected.

What we can do, in the meantime, is record our work and publish that. While I can’t promise Grammy®-worthy engineering, all recordings will be made in rooms made for singing, like churches, not in my basement with my mouth two inches away from the microphone.

Listen if you like. Support if you can. Thank you! -Paul
